I have been meaning to start up a blog for Elf and Munchkin for some time, but with two children, a dog and a husband to entertain as well as a part time job and orders to fulfil I never seem to be able to find the inspiration. So I apologise in advance if this blog is a little sporadic in its posting. Anyway I thought the best way to start is to try and explain how Elf & Munchkin came to be.

About a week after the birth of my son Finn I went for a free newborn shoot and whilst there the photographer mentioned that the little beanie my son was wearing were cute and that I should consider selling my knitted hats as they were photogenic. I had made and given lots as presents in the past and received lovely compliments so it seemed about time I turned my hobby into pocket money. I googled baby photo props and soon realised it was a huge business if you had the right designs, so set about creating new patterns.

Around Sept 2012 I had finally had enough time to design a few quirky hats and with the help of a local photographer Emma Griffin I got my first  sales. Over the Christmas period I had decided to design a fox hat as I love all things woodland and fairytale and after the release of my Foxy Loxy hat in Feb 2013 (and thanks to one of the coldest and wettest springs on record) I have been inundated with orders and have expanded the range further with pig, lion, snakes and lambs.

I love the designing and creation process and even more so love to see the photos from proud parents of their little Elf and Munchkins in their little hats :-)
